Binkyspoominneep ? What the heck is a binkyspoominneep!? Well, among other things, it's the last release of the 1997 season, made for you with love from the nobody gang.....
As many of you know, we had another project planned at the end of the summer, but things fell through, and due to a lot of unexpected difficulties, we wound up going in a different direction, so to speak, and thus, Binkyspoominneep........(this 'other project' did indeed get done a year later and lives HERE)........The opening track features a full on accapella slugfest, from the lilting strains of sweet melody, to those voices you wish you'd never heard, this version of "pangs" (#212 )has it all, and of course, we plan on releasing many of the other 211 versions as well! Have you ever heard of a thrash song where the lead instrument is a baritone ukulele? Well, we hadn't either until we recorded "angry soccer moms". This tune will change the way you think about soccer, motherhood and driving, all at the same time.......Once again, the MUSICAL SAW rears it's shiny head on track #5, while Slippery Joe Jitters claims that track #6, "paper plates" is "the best song I ever wrote. Or at least the best one I ever wrote on a Tuesday." Food for thought.......... Side one also includes "ant world", which, among other things, manages to be both an ode to the life of the ant, as well as a musical tribute to the mayor of Boston all rolled into one. Side one ends with the free form musical improvisation of "spoonies", which, not unlike "pangs", spanned several hours, but was randomly cut up into the best 'bits' to form the basis for this song.
Hilights of the backside include, a song about 'gender issues' on the track "dress", some prewashed shrinkfitted reggae on "nouns", yet another version of "pangs" (this one is #122), an instrumental track that's straight from the nostalgic confines of someone's grandmother's dusty sock drawer("happy monday ocean") but hopefully not played by said grandmother, and an ode to the wonderful world of nutrition on " amino acids". We also have the introduction of one Peter Bolger who's legendary dramatic vocal stylings inform the track "Binky's visit to the soda machine." The tape ends with more clips from the "spoonies" session, which as stated above was basically the whole band in one room improvising for an afternoon. Let's see what the critics have to say about this tape:
