"the concept": this is one of a series of three tapes titled 'hit record? hit record!'(chapters one two and three), which are loosely based on the same set of lyrics. in actual fact, the idea actually came from a small peice written on the autoharp, which was then given to each band member along with the question "what should we do to this?".....what followed were somewhat different ideas, causing us to consider what would happen if all of us worked separately on music for the same set of lyrics.....AND vice versa!........the song titles in written in bold above, have been done on all three tapes....

This is one of the longest tapes in the nobody catalog, and yet, it has the least number of songs......go figure?!....while rumor has it that we were recording a tribute to led zepplin's coda album, rumors to this effect remain unsubstantiated........the vast majority of these songs were recorded live in the same room but we are unable to give specifics as to where that room is located.......and so on... ...Hilights of this tape include a pedal steeled out romp with the "dog catcher of love", a 12 minute "walking invisble leader" which is both hawaiian and industrial......yet neither tropical nor oil-based....and some good old fashioned down home blues infected slide guitar on "reginald" and the nobody theme song: "cement blockhead"......lots of male vocals can be found on this tape, for those who are searching for a less potent viagra alternative.........actual songs sneak in as well, including the bluesy 'unambitious', and "growup" (all one word please....)

So if we had to say one thing about this tape it would be that it contains a lot of very interesting "HYBRIDS"........(my two favorites being "nukes" and "walking invisible leader" but what do "i" know, "i" don't even exist outside of the confines of these pages) so hopefully that's enough to really pique your interest and cause you to come to a show or purchase a tape......nudge nudge....

let's see what the inhabitants of the isle of langerhans have to say:

"Captain Beefheart meets Brian Wilson" - Trudy Richmond, Packer, Parent

" Them pedal steels shure feels gooood""- Otis Canfield, Louisiana State Penitentiary

" I woke up and my family was listening to this tape. I pretended I was still sleeping" -Karen Repnatstien, businesswoman, cat fancier

"Tell me what a dobro is again....." - Lori Thredbetter, retiree, pique-aholic

"I must confess, i have no idea.......i wasn't listening the last time i listened to it....., but at least this time your quotes are legitimate"- Leigh Calabrese, vocabulist, non-commuter, best fan we've ever had......

"did you play this on the eight string banjo.....or one of those really really nice guitars, you know, the ko-ree -ann ones....." Leon Tracy, camel unfiltered, key of C.
